Practical Emergency Management Training & Workshops
When an emergency strikes our organisation, we are content in the knowledge that we have planned and written those all important plans and procedures. To what depth have they been written, have you examined their accuracy and feasibility? Are your plans really ready for use? No matter how well trained and competent your managers, are in an emergency situation their results will at the very best be limited if the plans and procedures are ineffective.
“Readiness will not be achieved without management commitment, a strategic thinking organisation must be dedicated to conserving its human resources, the product, business continuity and its property.”
Course Outlines
Practical Training
Introduction to Emergency Management
This session will discuss what a major incident is to your organisation, define the activities and responsibilities of the delegates, and examine the command structure that will be in place in the event of a major incident
Communications, (Internal, External, Media)
Breaking down the three levels of communications required, and looking at the methods that will be used in each. Communications is THE most important part of any incident, handled poorly will almost certainly lead to dire consequences. Handled well and it will turn the incident into an opportunity
Operational Planning
Planning before an incident is essential, but this is only half the story. Once an incident takes place it is essential to plan in detail for the incident, “no plan survives first contact with the enemy,” and nor with your current emergency procedures, they will need modifying. This modification must be approved from senior management, it is therefore essential to understand the process to be followed to achieve strategic control of any incident.
Major Incident Case Study
Here we will take a look at a well documented incident, examine the deficiencies, and discuss their relevance to your organisation. (we can use a specific internal incident for this should you wish to personalise the case study)
Workshops
External Communications & Media Management
A practical session using your organisations current media strategy. The delegates will look at their own involvement, rehearsing their skills in a process that only allows one chance.
Operational Planning
Using a site based hazard scenario the delegates will create a strategic operational plan based on the current one-site procedures and the operational information they receive.
