Course Introduction

Fire Safety Training

We are all required by current legislation to provide training for our employees the actions to be taken in the event of a fire. This can range from basic fire safety awareness, to the practical use of fire extinguishers and the management of a fire situation with fire warden training. These programmes will look at your evacuation procedures, practical fire prevention and fire fighting techniques.

This will give your staff a greater awareness of the hazards a fire will present to us, and increase their knowledge in practical fire safety measures, and perhaps most importantly give them the opportunity to use a fire extinguisher on a real fire under the safest of conditions using our Live Fire Training Unit.

All programmes can be tailored specifically to the needs of your organisation.

Course Outline

Introduction

Chemistry of Fire

• Triangle of Combustion
• Flash point, Fire point and Auto ignition temperature
• How fire spreads

Actions in the event of a fire

• Raising the alarm
• Evacuating the building

Types of Extinguishers

• Classification of fire
• Selecting, testing and using the appropriate extinguisher for the class of fire
• Limitations of fire extinguishers

Practical live fire training

• Demonstrate and practice in the safe use of extinguishers on live fires, (subject to suitable location)

Maximum of 10 delegates per programme
