Emergency Management Training from Safety Management (UK) - statistics tell us many organisations do not survive once they have suffered an emergency - don't let it be your business.
The above exercise was organised by Steve White, (Akcros Chemicals) Terry Hand,
(Greater Manchester Fire Service) and Brian Gregory (Safety Management) and
was designed to test the company’s emergency response in line with their
responsibilities under COMAH.
The exercise itself was attended by all the external emergency response agencies
who supported Akcros’ own trained internal emergency response team (ALERT
Team).
The scenario was designed to test Akcros Chemicals On and Off site emergency
plans to ensure preparations are in place to deal with any eventuality. Having
such a successful exercise, coupled with the excellent safety record at the
Eccles site demonstrates Akcros Chemicals ongoing commitment to safety responsibility.
The scenario started with a report of a leaking drum which was attended by
the ALERT Team. During the emergency phase the ALERT Team and GMC worked together
to stop the leaks, nullify the spillage rendering it safe to undertake the
casualty rescues.
